The Grounds Maintenance Laborer in the Roads & Grounds Shop performs a variety of duties necessary to the general maintenance and upkeep of the grounds of the facilities.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:
- Maintains grounds of commercial buildings, parks, playgrounds, etc. by cutting grass (riding mowers less than 2000 lbs.) trimming hedges, edging sidewalks, pruning shrubs using hand tools, fertilizing lawns and shrubs, and repairing structures such as fences, outbuildings, and benches.
- Removes leaves from premises.
- Removes snow from sidewalks and driveways using a shovel and snow blower. Also spreads salt on walkways.
- Other duties as assigned.
Must have one-year related experience and/or formal vocational/technical training in grounds maintenance, demonstrate expertise in the field and be physically able to perform the duties of the job. Must maintain a valid driver’s license. High school diploma or GED required.
Must have the ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, managers and staff members.
