SUMMARY

The Fire Suppression Tech inspects, maintains and repairs installed fire alarm detection and suppression systems in accordance with manufacturer’s specifications and the National Fire Protection Association standards.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned:

Duties involve a combination of the followings:

  • Inspects fire alarm equipment and replaces defective components.
  • Tests initiating and signal circuits, detectors, and system transmitter and makes needed repairs.
  • Inspect and repair as required Dry and Wet Sprinkler Systems and pre-action sprinkler system
  • Inspect and repair Mass Notification system
  • Inspect and repair as required fire pumps
  • Inspect and repair fire alarm control panels
  • Complete service order requests based on the priority level
  • Complete preventive maintenance orders as scheduled

 

QUALIFICATIONS 

A minimum of five (5) years’ experience with installation, maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting of water/clean agent based systems and suppression system control panels.  Level III certification Water Based System, Level IV Special Hazards Fire, ICC/NAFED for Portable Fire Extinguishers and Pre-Engineered Kitchen Fire Extinguishing Systems.  Basic Explosive Safety Technology training every 3 years.  Ability to obtain government secret clearance, a valid Georgia Driver’s License and ability to maintain military gate pass access are required.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

High school degree required.

COMMUNICATION SKILLS

Must have the ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, managers and staff members.

Further, the individual will perform their duties at shoulder level and above at least 70 to 75% of the time.
